Help for the Homeless

Give A Bag – Get A Bag Promotion May 16-31, 2011

We at Legacy know how tough this economy has been on our fellow SLO county citizens.  There has been an influx of people who have never been homeless before. Did you know that almost half the homeless population are children?  We want to help and hope you will join our efforts.

El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO) provides meals, shelter and support services to the homeless and hungry of northern San Luis Obispo County. As a nonprofit, they are volunteer-based and run by a coalition of churches, service organizations and individuals. Their family atmosphere and selfless dedication of volunteers has been a refuge for many in their times of need. They operate 365 days of the year providing a warm meal and a place to sleep for those who need a helping hand. ECHO’s vision is to provide access to services that address the root causes of homelessness and to help the homeless find a level of self-sufficiency that is appropriate to each individual.

To help the shelter, we are collecting the following items:

·         Peanut butter/ Jelly/ Non-perishable food items

·         Shampoo/ Conditioner/ Deodorant

·         Sunscreen/ Lotion/ Travel toiletries/ Personal care  

·         Toilet Paper/ Paper Towels/ Tissue

·         Sleeping Bags 

·         VHS/DVD movies for kids room

·         Gift certificates for haircuts in Atascadero

If you have other items to donate, please give us a call: 805-226-0445.
